Yeasayer

Much has been hyped about Odd Blood, the second album from Brooklyn's Yeasayer.  Since turning heads in 2007 with their debut album, All Hour Cymbals, they have been gaining popular momentum over the past few years with a steady stream of high-profile performances, and 2010 sees them coming into their own with a solid collection of tunes bound to leave an impression.  At once novel and incredibly familiar, Yeasayer's latest effort breezes effortlessly (which is certainly not to say without passion) across a surprisingly diverse range of influences, delivering songs that are experimental yet catchy, psychedelic yet rooted in pop sensibility, and ultimately very life-affirming.  It seems the gathering anticipation has been well-founded, and Yeasayer are primed for the big time.
