Four Tet

Ok, so I feel like I've been posting a lot about things that came out a couple of years ago, which is probably to be expected when starting up a venture such as this, but amidst all this catching up, I'd prefer to not lose sight of current developments.  With that in mind, Four Tet has a new album.  Many of you are probably familiar with Kieran Hebden's previous work, with its lo-fi drum loops scattered over a dizzyingly diverse array of melodic samples.  His latest work, 'There Is Love In You', applies a more polished sheen to his typically rough-around-the-edges sound, and the result is his most accessible album to date.  Hebdan's warm, scratchy melodies lose none of their vitality for being structured around more regular 4/4/ rhythms, and overall, the sounds seem to sit better in their respective mixes, making for a smoother, better-balanced ride across the entire album.  This album marks a real step forward in Four Tet's creative development, and has established itself as an early contender for my 'top 5 albums' list come 2010's end.
