Little Dragon

I first heard Yukimi Nagano's sultry voice gliding over jazzy Rhodes chords years ago in the classic Hird track Keep You Kimi, and I have been captivated ever since.  In the years that followed, she and her band Little Dragon have been gaining some well-deserved notoriety for their unique style of sexy, smart, playfully adventurous music.  Spanning a wide range of influences while defying any simple sort of categorization, Little Dragon makes timeless music for all hearts that are alive and beating.  I'm really looking forward to seeing them tomorrow night at the Walnut Room - in sharing the joy of their coming through town, however, I was somewhat flabbergasted to realize how many of my friends weren't familiar with them, and I was thus inspired to make this post (aren't these, after all, the situations for which music blogs exist?).  Do yourself a favor.  Get familiar.  Buy their latest album, Machine Dreams.  You won't regret it.

Here's an extra-hearty helping of video to whet your appetite:
